Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about renting a dumpster from Associated Refuse Haulers.

Sizing & Selection

What dumpster sizes do you offer?

We offer 4, 6, 10, 12/15, 20, and 30 yard roll-off containers. The right size depends on your project type and the volume of debris you expect to generate. Our team can recommend the best fit when you call.

How do I know which size dumpster I need?

As a general guide: 4-6 yard for small cleanouts and bathroom remodels, 10 yard for small renovations and single-layer roof tear-offs, 12/15 yard for medium renovations, 20 yard for large renovations and whole-house cleanouts, and 30 yard for new construction and major demolition. Call 203-426-8870 and describe your project — we will recommend the most cost-effective size.

What if I rent a dumpster that is too small?

If your container fills up before your project is done, call us and we will swap it out for a fresh one or upgrade to a larger size. It is usually more cost-effective to go one size up from the start if you are unsure.

Pricing & Payment

How much does a dumpster rental cost?

Pricing depends on the container size, type of material being disposed, weight, rental duration, and delivery location. Call 203-426-8870 for a free, no-obligation quote specific to your project. We pride ourselves on transparent pricing with no hidden fees.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. We quote you an all-inclusive price upfront. The only additional charges would be for exceeding the weight limit, keeping the container beyond the agreed rental period, or loading prohibited materials. We explain all terms clearly before delivery.

What payment methods do you accept?

Contact us at 203-426-8870 to discuss payment options for your rental.

Delivery & Pickup

How quickly can you deliver a dumpster?

We offer prompt, reliable delivery throughout most of Fairfield County. Delivery times depend on container availability and your location. Our fastest response times are in Monroe, Trumbull, Shelton, Newtown, and surrounding towns closest to our headquarters.

Where will the dumpster be placed?

Our driver will place the container wherever you specify — typically on your driveway, at a job site, or in a designated parking area. Make sure the placement area is clear and accessible when the truck arrives. Our drivers take care to protect your property during delivery.

How long can I keep the dumpster?

Rental periods are flexible and depend on your project needs. We discuss timeline when you book and can extend your rental if your project takes longer than expected. Call us to arrange the schedule that works best for your project.

How do I schedule a pickup?

When your container is full or your project is complete, call 203-426-8870 and we will schedule a pickup — typically within 24 hours of your call.

Materials & Loading

What can I put in a dumpster?

Most construction and demolition debris, household junk, furniture, yard waste, roofing materials, drywall, lumber, and general cleanout items are accepted. Heavy materials like concrete, brick, and dirt require special arrangements. Hazardous materials, tires, batteries, and certain items are prohibited.

Can I put concrete or dirt in the dumpster?

Concrete, brick, dirt, rock, and stumps are accepted with prior arrangement because of their extreme weight. These materials must be loaded separately — do not mix them with general debris. Call us before loading heavy materials.

What items are NOT allowed in a dumpster?

Hazardous waste (paint, solvents, chemicals), asbestos, tires, batteries, propane tanks, medical waste, fluorescent bulbs, and flammable liquids are prohibited. See our full accepted materials page for details.

Can I fill the dumpster above the sides?

No. For safe transport, debris must be level with or below the top of the container walls. Overfilled containers cannot be picked up until excess material is removed.

Permits & Regulations

Do I need a permit for a dumpster?

If the dumpster is placed on your private property (driveway or yard), a permit is typically not required. If you need the container placed on a public street or right-of-way, some municipalities require a permit. We can advise on your town's requirements when you book.

What areas do you serve?

We serve most of Fairfield County CT including Stamford, Norwalk, Greenwich, Danbury, Bethel, Newtown, Brookfield, Monroe, Ridgefield, Fairfield, Westport, Bridgeport, Trumbull, Shelton, Milford, Stratford, Waterbury, Darien, and surrounding communities.
